Medium Term Accommodation in Melbourne

Supporting Your Transitional Housing Needs

If you're seeking medium term accommodation in Melbourne or regional Victoria, InPlace Living provides high-quality, purpose-built homes designed to support participants during times of transition. Whether you're waiting for your SDA funding to be approved, your new Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) home to be built, or your long-term housing to become available, we're here to help you feel comfortable, supported and at home.

What Is Medium Term Accommodation (MTA)?

Medium Term Accommodation (MTA) is a transitional housing option funded by the NDIS under Home and Living Supports. It provides a safe and accessible place to live while you move between longer-term housing arrangements — typically for up to 90 days.

MTA is commonly used by participants who are waiting for SDA funding approval, whose permanent home is still under construction, or who need interim housing while their next long-term arrangement is finalised. At InPlace Living, we offer immediate access to NDIS medium term accommodation across Melbourne and regional Victoria.

What happened to my support/care?

Your support and care is separate from the accommodation itself. MTA covers the place you stay, while supports like SIL (Supported Independent Living) and other services are delivered through your providers based on your NDIS plan. You can continue with your preferred provider, or we can help connect you with a SIL provider during your stay if needed.

What to Expect During Your MTA Stay

Moving into temporary housing can feel uncertain, so we aim to make the transition as smooth as possible. Here's what you can expect when staying in an InPlace Living MTA property:

  • Fast placements — Our team works to match you with a suitable property quickly, so you're not left waiting when you need housing most.
  • Fully furnished, move-in ready homes — Every property is equipped and ready for immediate occupancy, so there's no delay getting settled.
  • Accessible design throughout — Wide doorways and hallways, step-free access, modern kitchens and spacious bedrooms with private ensuite bathrooms — all built to NDIS standards.
  • Flexible support arrangements — You can bring your preferred SIL provider, or we can connect you with one of our trusted partners carefully selected by the InPlace Living team.
  • Connected locations — Our homes are located close to shops, public transport, medical services and community amenities across metro and regional Victoria.

What Happens After 90 Days?

MTA funding is generally approved for up to 90 days. If your long-term housing isn't ready by then, your support coordinator can request an extension through the NDIS. Our team can also help you explore permanent SDA housing options with InPlace Living, so your transition from MTA to a long-term home is seamless.

Why Choose InPlace Living for MTA?

  • Homes tailored for your comfort, safety and independence
  • Flexible support arrangements to match your individual needs
  • Fast placements to help you move in quickly when you need it most
